Filter coffee needs no pressure. Hot water runs slowly through the grounds and draws out much of the fruit and florals a light roast brings. This page lists filter coffee beans that the roaster intends for filter or offers as an omni roast for filter and espresso, or that the roaster recommends for pour-over such as a V60, a filter machine, a cafetière or an AeroPress. Brew methods named in the roaster's description are read by AI and marked as such.

If the cup tastes thin and sour, grind finer; if it turns bitter and dry, grind coarser – and change one thing at a time. If the roaster gives a recipe on the product page, start there. Tips for filter coffee

Pour-over and V60

Whether you use a V60, a Kalita or a Chemex, rinse the paper filter with hot water before adding the coffee. That removes the papery taste and warms the brewer. Pour a little water first and wait briefly until the grounds have bloomed, then keep pouring evenly.

Filter machine and batch brew

The machine does the pouring; you decide the amount and the grind. A filter machine usually needs a slightly coarser grind than pour-over. Don't leave the coffee on the hot plate for long – it turns bitter there quickly. A thermal jug keeps it warm without that.

Cafetière and AeroPress

In a cafetière (French press), coarsely ground coffee steeps in the water for a few minutes before you press the mesh slowly down. The AeroPress combines a short steep with pressing by hand through a paper filter; it takes a finer grind than a cafetière.
