A bean to cup machine grinds and brews at the touch of a button, but usually offers only coarse grind settings. Light, very fruity roasts quickly taste sour in it, and very dark, oily beans can clog the grinder. So this page lists coffee beans for bean to cup machines that the roaster intends for espresso or offers as an omni roast, whose notes sound chocolatey & nutty or balanced, and which are not sold as a light roast – plus coffees the roaster recommends for bean to cup directly. Anaerobic and infused coffees are not included.

We haven't measured anything or tested coffees in machines: the selection follows the roasters' information alone, and the flavour notes are the roasters' words, read and grouped by AI. Whether a coffee suits your machine, only the first bag will tell. Why filter roasts often disappoint in a bean to cup machine is explained in the guide which coffee beans suit a bean to cup machine. If you have more control, compare coffee beans for espresso machines.

Yevhen Polishchuk, 20 Oct 2026

Intended for espresso or omni use according to the roaster, with tasting notes the roaster describes as chocolatey & nutty or balanced, not anaerobically fermented or infused, and not a light or medium-light roast (where the roaster states the roast level). Or the roaster explicitly recommends the coffee for bean-to-cup machines.

Not included: 783 coffees without brewing information

Tips for bean to cup machines

  • On many machines you should only change the grind setting while the grinder is running – your machine's manual says how.
  • After switching beans, the first few cups still contain some of the old beans. Judge the new coffee after two or three cups.
  • If the coffee tastes sour: grind finer, raise the temperature, use more coffee. If it tastes bitter: grind coarser.
  • Very oily, shiny beans don't belong in the hopper; many manufacturers advise against them.
  • Clean the brew unit regularly, as the manual says. Old coffee residue changes the taste of every new bean.
  • In a hard-water area, descale as often as the manual recommends, or use the water filter if your machine takes one. Scale affects both the machine and the taste.
